Jim is a Managing Partner and one of the firm’s principals, helping to drive strategic direction and vision, while also leading the research and execution teams at Ross & Company. During his more than 13 years with the firm, Jim has completed more than 200 projects, ranging from CEO, President, COO, Board Member, CFO and other top management searches to capital sourcing and company formation; Jim also works with clients on CEO and Founder succession issues. Specializing in the health information, health data analytics, healthcare services, managed care, tech-enabled services, and enterprise software/SaaS/cloud computing businesses, Jim is one of the recognized leaders in health information recruiting.
He has extensive experience working with public and private companies; serving private equity and venture capital firms such as The Carlyle Group, Hellman & Friedman, Summit Partners, Bain Capital Ventures, Vestar Capital Partners, JMI Equity, HLM Venture Partners, OpenView Ventures on Board, CEO, CFO, CTO, and functional vice president recruitments within their portfolio companies. Jim also has deep experience recruiting for companies such as WebMD, ESPN, Kodak, Tyco, Motorola, Thomson Healthcare/Truven Analytics, Microsoft, Reed Elsevier, IBM, Unisys, Netsuite, VistaPrint, Epocrates, Kindred Healthcare, and Aetna/Medicity. Prior to joining Ross & Company, Jim was a recruiter with Spencer Stuart, the world’s largest privately-held executive search and management consulting firm. Prior to his career in executive search, Jim was a founding member of an information technology consulting firm. Here he helped to oversee the firm’s expansion from a single office to a national presence. In growing this business, Jim conceived of and launched its SaaS-based platform which delivered an applicant tracking and e-learning system that was used by Fortune 500 and Financial Services 100 businesses.
Before his business career, Jim worked for a regional law firm. He holds a B.A. in History and Mass Communications from King’s College, serving in his senior year as President of the Student Government; and a J.D. from Quinnipiac University-School of Law, graduating with a distinction in Trial Advocacy. Jim also has served as a Judge for the Software & Information Industry Association’s Codie Awards, and is a mentor for HealthBox, which brings together entrepreneurs, strategic partners, industry experts, and investors to tackle real healthcare challenges. Jim, who holds both U.S. and Irish passports and his wife Nathalie, a dual U.S. and Spanish citizen, have three children; Sara (16), Henry (12) and Ryan (10).
