Jim is a Managing Partner and as one of the firm’s principals, helping drive the strategic direction and vision while also being responsible for leading the research and execution teams for the organization. During his more than 10 years with the firm, he has completed more than 200 projects ranging from CEO, President, COO, Board Member, CFO and other top management searches to capital sourcing and company formation. He also works with clients on CEO and Founder succession issues. Jim specializes in serving clients in the health information, health data analytics, healthcare services, managed care, med device, tech-enabled services, enterprise software/SaaS/cloud computing, and digital media/Internet businesses.
He has extensive experience working with public and private companies; and mainly serves private equity and venture capital firms such as The Carlyle Group, Hellman and Friedman, Summit Partners, Bain Capital Ventures, Vestar Capital Partners, JMI Equity, Bessemer Venture Partners, HLM Venture Partners to name a few, with regard to Board, CEO, CFO, CTO, and functional vice president recruitments within their portfolio companies. He also has deep experience recruiting for companies such as ESPN, Kodak, Tyco, Motorola, Atari/Infogrames, Thomson Reuters, Microsoft, Reed Elsevier, IBM, Unisys, Netsuite, VistaPrint, Nuance Communications, Kindred Healthcare, Epocrates, and WebMD.
Prior to joining Ross & Company, Jim was a recruiter with Spencer Stuart, the world’s largest privately-held executive search and management consulting firm. Prior to his career in executive search, Jim was a founding member of an information technology consulting firm. Here he helped oversee the expansion from a single office to a national presence. At the same time, Jim conceived and launched its SaaS-based platform which delivered an applicant tracking and e-learning system that was used by Fortune 500 and Financial Services 100 businesses.
Before his business career, Jim worked for a regional law firm. He holds a B.A. in History and Mass Communications from King’s College, serving in his senior year as President of the Student Government; and a JD from Quinnipiac University-School of Law, graduating with a distinction in Trial Advocacy. He also has served as a Judge for the Software & Information Industry Association’s Codie Awards, and is a mentor for HealthBox, which brings together entrepreneurs, strategic partners, industry experts, and investors to tackle real healthcare challenges.
